Meet your dancing queen, hailing from Kansas City's southern border...Martin City, America! For Matt, the opportunity to break out his rad dance moves in front of a large crowd is all in a day's work. He comes complete with cowboy cross-trainers (if you haven't seen these boots you're missing out!) and a dance belt purchased while attending acting school in L.A. He has assured the Martin City Brew team that he will not let us down--and if the dance skills are lacking, we are quite sure the entertainment value will be top notch!
On a more serious note, Matt is supported by his bodacious wife Kara and (almost!) three amazing children Kennedy, Easton and Little Moore (to arrive in May). He is the co-founder of Martin City Brewing Company alongside his good friend Chancie Adams. Above all else Matt enjoys great beer paired with good company--preferably on a boat. He is an avid supporter of the local community and honored to have the opportunity to help the BMA make a difference with some amazing charities.
Matt will be dancing with Krista Derington.
Krista hails from Orem, Utah where she trained from a young age in Jazz, Modern, Ballet and Ballroom dance. She had a successful Amateur Ballroom career, becoming a finalist and even champion at local and National NDCA sanctioned competitions in all styles of ballroom. Krista has a degree in Dance Education with a minor in Ballroom Dance from Brigham Young University. While attending BYU, she had the opportunity to dance and compete with the Ballroom Tour Team and Contemporary Dance Theater. During that time she completed 8 major performance tours; the majority of them touring the US, China, and Hong Kong. One of her most memorable tours included performing for the Pre-Olympic shows and government in China for the 2008 Olympics. After graduating from BYU, she earned an MFA in Modern Dance at the University of Utah and also became a certified Licentiate Ballroom Teacher through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. During her time at the University of Utah she was the Artistic Director & main choreographer for the U Ballroom Dance Company; directing and producing three shows for the 45 student company. Simultaneous to her graduate studies she joined the ranks as a professional competitor of American Smooth. She has been a Rising Star, Open Professional, and Open Professional Show Dance finalist all over the US. The most prestigious award she has received as a professional was 4th place in American Smooth at the United States Dance Championships in 2016 with past partner Martin Tomaszewski. She has recently paired up with her new partner Johnny Francoviglia and they plan on competing together in Smooth soon! If you ever ask her what her favorite style of dance is, she most likely will not answer because she loves all of it!
