When he isn't performing brain surgery, Dr. Justin Davis (Neurosurgeon at Overland Park Regional Medical Center), is tearing up the dance floor and fundraising for the BMA Foundation.
Justin and his wife Jennie, of Overland Park, became avid supporters of the BMA Foundation after discovering all the amazing charities that BMA supports. (The fact that they danced with Tony and Emma at this event last year may have had something to do with that as well!) They have 4 children, Emma (10), James (7), Matthew (5) and Henry (8 months). They have a passion for supporting children's programs, having experienced the benefits of programs first-hand as their son James, navigates the world of autism.
Justin is honored to raise money and dance for the foundation, and is ready to "dance to a different beat."
Justin will be dancing with Krista Derington.
Krista hails from Orem, Utah where she trained from a young age in Jazz, Modern, Ballet and Ballroom dance. She had a successful Amateur Ballroom career, becoming a finalist and even champion at local and National NDCA sanctioned competitions in all styles of ballroom. Krista has a degree in Dance Education with a minor in Ballroom Dance from Brigham Young University. While attending BYU, she had the opportunity to dance and compete with the Ballroom Tour Team and Contemporary Dance Theater. During that time she completed 8 major performance tours; the majority of them touring the US, China, and Hong Kong. One of her most memorable tours included performing for the Pre-Olympic shows and government in China for the 2008 Olympics. After graduating from BYU, she earned an MFA in Modern Dance at the University of Utah and also became a certified Licentiate Ballroom Teacher through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. During her time at the University of Utah she was the Artistic Director & main choreographer for the U Ballroom Dance Company; directing and producing three shows for the 45 student company. Simultaneous to her graduate studies she joined the ranks as a professional competitor of American Smooth. She has been a Rising Star, Open Professional, and Open Professional Show Dance finalist all over the US. The most prestigious award she has received as a professional was 4th place in American Smooth at the United States Dance Championships in 2016 with past partner Martin Tomaszewski. She has recently paired up with her new partner Johnny Francoviglia and they plan on competing together in Smooth soon! If you ever ask her what her favorite style of dance is, she most likely will not answer because she loves all of it!
