As Director of Public Relations at Children's Mercy, Jake Jacobson gets to share incredible stories about inspiring kids and innovative care through national PR, social media and civic engagement. Active with various nonprofits as a volunteer and event emcee, Jake is proud to dance for the BMA Foundation and represent Noah's Bandage Project. When he's not tripping around the dance floor or singing mediocre karaoke, Jake enjoys running, biking, hiking, traveling, tweeting (@JakesJournal) and being a cheerleader for all things KC.
Jake will be dancing with Joan Augustyn.
Joan Augustyn has been a part of Allegro Ballroom, formerly Louis & Company, for 8 years and competes Pro-Am in all American Bronze styles and American Silver Smooth. She placed first with her amateur partner and husband in the Gentleman's Silver Smooth Scholarship at the First Coast Classic in 2015, took first in single dances at the Great Gatsby Gala and Heart of America in Pro-Am Silver American Smooth in 2016 as well as enjoyed performing for the pro show for the Great Gatsby Gala. Outside of ballroom dancing, Joan has her doctorate in occupational therapy (OTD) from KU Medical Center. She is a full-time clinical assistant professor at KU Medical Center for the Occupational Therapy Education department. She also works as an occupational therapist at Overland Park Regional Medical Center and at an Alzheimer's care unit, Garden Terrace of Overland Park. Joan loves high energy dancing and is excited to be a part of any event that benefits the KC community.
